Laura Wilson - BIO
In 2002, Laura Wilson (then Bogdaniuc) immigrated to the US from her native Romania with only $100 in her pocket. From these humble beginnings, she created a veritable Pilates empire. Laura was first introduced to Pilates working as a massage therapist in a physical therapy office in Santa Monica, California. Having been involved in sports her whole life, she could see the benefits of Pilates for both athletes and rehabilitation.
In 2005, Laura received her full certification through STOTT PILATES. She immediately opened her then-boutique (now-flagship) studio, Natural Pilates, in Beverly Hills, across from the iconic Peninsula Hotel. She loved teaching Pilates and helping her clients get stronger and feel better in their skin. Striving to be the best in her field, Laura has never stopped learning. She is also certified in Gyrotonic (2008), Spin (2011), and Vinyasa Yoga (2011). Laura became a Resistance Training Specialist and a Muscle Activation Technique Specialist in 2012.
Influenced by her courses in resistance training and muscle activation, Laura decided to create her own teacher training program in 2017. She applied her love of anatomy to the physics behind the Pilates repertoire and the functionality of the equipment. The Natural Pilates Teacher Training Program mirrors Laura’s style of teaching the classical repertoire. Natural Pilates Mat and Reformer Teacher Training Programs were recently accredited by the Pilates Method Alliance’s ITTAP Program.
In 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, Laura branded her own line of Pilates props and fitness products and launched Natural Pilates TV, an online portal of hundreds of hours of Pilates workouts and many continuing education workshops accredited by the National Pilates Certification Program.
Since 2005, Natural Pilates went from a one-person business to a company of almost 50 employees. Laura has since opened four other locations in Brentwood, West Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, and New York City. Laura is now one of the most successful and sought-after instructors in the US. Her knowledge, experience, and professional acumen have given her an edge in fitness and served as the catalyst behind the creation of her own unique brand of Pilates instruction. Laura has taken the classical repertoire developed by Joseph Pilates almost a century ago and infused it with athleticism and targeted programming. By distilling down complicated choreography, Laura presents a more simplified approach to Pilates movements and principles that is accessible to people of all fitness levels. Laura’s method of teaching helps clients tune in to their own bodies and exercise smarter.
